Chaumukh Nath Temple is near Nachna Kuthar village near Saleha in Panna district of Madhya Pradesh. This Shivli “Chaumukhnath” Chaumukhnath temple built in the seventh-eighth century during the reign of Pratihara dynasty is the only Shivling in India in which four different faces of Bholenath are engraved on the Shivling.! In the same temple complex, there is also a Parvati temple of Gupta period which is also famous for its ancient architecture.!
Choumukhnath Temple (Chaumukhnath Temple) Rare Chaturbhuj idol of Bholenath is located in Saleha of Panna district, the temple is said to be of 5th century. In a single idol, one can see the bridegroom, Ardhanarishwar and Shiva absorbed in meditation. Although all the Shiva temples have their own importance, but the history of Nachna (Chaumukh Nath Mandir) Chaumukh Nath Mahadev Temple (Chaumukh Nath Shiva Temple) of Saleha region is unique. It is said that in this very ancient temple, the idol with four faces of Lord Shiva is installed. Each face of the idol has a different form. A miraculous gem is still present under this temple. The Shiva temple of Devtalaab was built in one night.
A unique four-faced Shiva idol installed in Chaumukhnath temple. Apart from Chaumukhnath Mahadev temple, there is a very ancient Siddhnath temple in this area. This unique place is located about 60 km from the district headquarters Panna. This unique place is famous as August Muni Ashram. The remains of ancient temples and rare idols are scattered here and there in this entire area, no initiative has been taken till date to preserve them. The craftsmanship of the Siddhnath temple of Panna district is worth seeing. Situated on the banks of Gudne river surrounded by high hills, this place must have once had a whole series of temples. The remains of temples scattered far and wide and stones decorated with unique carvings are visible everywhere here.
चौमुख नाथ मंदिर मध्यप्रदेश के पन्ना जिले में सालेहा के पास नचना कुठार गाव के पास है ये शिवली “चौमुखनाथ ” लगभग सातवीं आठवीं शताब्दी में प्रतिहार राजवंशों के शासनकाल में बना चौमुखनाथ मंदिर भारत का एकमात्र ऐसा शिवलिंग है जिसमे भोलेनाथ के चार अलह अलह चेहरों को शिवलिंग पर उकेरा गया हो.! इसी मंदिर परिसर में ही गुप्त काल का पार्वती मंदिर भी है जो अपनी प्राचीन वास्तुकला के लिए भी प्रसिद्द है.!
Choumukhnath Mandir (चौमुखनाथ मंदिर) पन्ना जिले के सलेहा में स्थित है भोलेनाथ की दुर्लभ चतुर्भुज प्रतिमा, 5वीं सदी का बताया जा रहा मंदिर. एक ही मूर्ति में दूल्हा, अर्धनारीश्वर और समाधि में लीन शिव के होते हैं दर्शन ैसे तो अपनी-अपनी जगह सभी शिव मंदिरों का महत्व है लेकिन सलेहा क्षेत्र के नचने का (Chaumukh Nath Mandir) चौमुख नाथ महादेव मंदिर (Chaumukh Nath Shiva Temple) का इतिहास ही अनोखा है। कहते है अति प्राचीन इस मंदिर में भगवान शिव के चार मुख वाली प्रतिमा स्थापित है। प्रतिमा का हर मुख अलग-अलग रूप वाला है। इस मंदिर के नीचे आज भी मौजूद है चमत्कारी मणि, एक रात में बना था देवतालाब का शिव मंदिर.
चौमुखनाथ मंदिर में प्रतिष्ठित चार मुख वाली विलक्षण शिव प्रतिमा। चौमुखनाथ महादेव मंदिर के आलावा इसी क्षेत्र में अति प्राचीन सिद्धनाथ मन्दिर है। जिला मुख्यालय पन्ना से लगभग 60 किमी. दूर स्थित यह अनूठा स्थल अगस्त मुनि आश्रम के नाम से विख्यात है। इस पूरे परिक्षेत्र में प्राचीन मन्दिरों व दुर्लभ प्रतिमाओं के अवशेष जहां – तहां बिखरे पड़े हैं, जिन्हें संरक्षित करने के लिए आज तक कोई पहल नहीं हुई। पन्ना जिले के सिद्धनाथ मन्दिर की शिल्प कला देखने योग्य है, ऊंची पहाडिय़ों से घिरे गुडने नदी के किनारे स्थित इस स्थान पर कभी मन्दिरों की पूरी श्रंखला रही होगी। मन्दिरों के दूर – दूर तक बिखरे पड़े अवशेष तथा बेजोड़ नक्कासी से अलंकृत शिलायें, यहां हर तरफ दिखाई देती हैं। जिससे प्रतीत होता है कि यहां कभी विशाल मन्दिर रहे होंगे।
