Panna district is a district of Madhya Pradesh. Which comes under Sagar Mandal. Its headquarter is located in Panna district. Panna district is known as Diamond City of India. In India, maximum diamond is found only in Panna. That's why it is known by the name of Heera Nagari, Panna district, popularly known as Heera Nagari, is a district in the state of Madhya Pradesh, which is located in the middle of the Vindhyachal mountain range from the north-east. Panna district is also known as Maharaja's city.

Panna district is famous for diamond mine and city of ancient beautiful temples, hence it is also known as city of temples. There are total 9 Tehsils in Panna District and 5 Blocks in Panna. Powai is the largest village of Panna district. Panna comes under one of the constituencies of Vidhan Sabha (230 Vidhan Sabha). The area of ​​Panna district is 27135 square kilometer and the population of Panna is 10,16028 as per 2011 census.

Establishment of Panna: - In the year 1921, the municipality was formed in Panna. Then before 1st April 1949, Panna district used to be a part of Vindhya Pradesh. Which was merged with Madhya Pradesh on 1 November 1956. Sagar division was established in Panna district on 20 October 1972, before this Panna used to come under Rewa division.

Location of Panna:- Banda district in the north and Satna district in the east and Katni and Damoh district in the south and Chhatarpur district in the west.

Geographical location of Panna:- Panna district is in the state of Madhya Pradesh located in the center of India. Panna district is situated between its amazing geographical location 24°43' North and 80°12' East. Panna is situated at an altitude of 1332 feet (416 m) above sea level.

The land of Panna district is full of natural beauty surrounded by mountains, waterfalls, and dense forests in its lap. The beautiful Ken river passing through Panna, Panna National Park, Panna Tiger Reserve, doubles the beauty of this place. Special types of chausinga deer are found in Panna district. Panna district is also called the city of water tunnels. In Panna district, the water management of the princely state was very good. The arrangement for storing rain water was made by the kings here only two and a half hundred years ago. There are dozens of ponds in Panna distict.

Along with the pond, Dharmasagar and many wells are also the crown of emerald. The pond here is the life of the people. It is believed that at one time there was a severe water crisis here. At that time the water of the affected Kilkila river near the city of Panna was not fit for drinking. Then the kings of Panna had built water tanks, wells, stepwells and ponds from place to place.
Because here the water source used to dry up in the summer. Because in Panna there are mountains from all sides and rocks are present from far below the ground. So it was very difficult to get water.

Here at the time of water famine, Maharaja Sabha Singh had built a huge Dharmasagar pond at the foot of Madar Tunda hill near Panna, for relief to his princely state. Dharmasagar Talab was built between 1745 and 1752. Kalda plateau present in Panna which is full of mystery and adventure. This plateau is about 60 km away from Panna district headquarter. Tribals usually reside on this mountain. Some such people are also found in these tribals who would never have come down from the mountain About 60 to 70 villages are settled on this huge mountain. Tree houses are also found in Panna district. Panna district produces maximum Amla, that is why it has been declared as Amla district.

Ancient name of Panna:- In the Puranas, the ancient name of Panna is known asPadmavati Puri. In the 41st canto of Valmiki Ramayana, Sugriva has mentioned its name as Kilkila Khand (the place of origin ).

It is believed that this region is also known as the capital of King Dadhichi and the capital of King Padmavati in Satyuga. Panna district is a historical town and it has been mentioned in Vishnu Purana and Padma Purana. Panna district was also known as Kilkila region in ancient times. The goddess Padmavati of Nagavansh whose temple is still present on the banks of river Kilkila. This place was named Panna because of Goddess Padmavati. First it was named Padma then Parna Waterfall, finally its name was changed to Panna.

Industry:- In Panna district, along with diamonds, agricultural products, timber and textiles are a big center of trade. Handloom and weaving are the main industries here. Rice, wheat, sorghum, and oilseed crops yield more. Fishing centers are also present at many places in Panna district. India's largest diamond mine is present in Panna district, which is present in Mazgaon area of ​​Panna.

Tourism:- Panna district is famous as the city of temples, here Jugalkishore ji temple, Prannath temple, Jagannath temple, Ram temple, Govind Dev temple, Baldev temple, Padmavati Devi temple, many such famous temples are present here. Panna district has the Panna National Park, established in 1981 by the Government of India.
India's 22nd Tiger Reserve was created by the Government of India in 1994 in Panna National Park, which is known as Panna Tiger Reserve. The ancient city of Ajaygarh, which is the ancient fort of Maharaja Ajaypal, is located at a distance of 32 km from Panna district headquarters. There are many mountains, waterfalls, and many more to visit in Panna.

History of Panna:- Panna district was originally the Gaur region from the 13th to 17th century. In 1675, Raja Chhatrasal ruled in Bundelkhand. His rule was in the entire Bundelkhand. According to the orders of Swami Prannath ji, the spiritual guru of Maharaja Chhatrasal, the importance of Panna district increased manifold since then Maharaj Chhatrasal had made Panna as his capital since then Panna district came to be known as the city of Maharaj Chhatrasal. It is said, 17th In the century when the Chandelas had defeated the Gaur, then they took control of this entire region.

At the same time, the Padmavati Dham temple was established here. The first freedom struggle was in 1856, Raja Nirpal Singh, who supported the British. Due to this the British were happy and honored him with the title of Maharaja. Panna district was made it's capital after the death of Aurangzeb in 1707 of Bundela King Chhatrasal. The Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah had gone to the society in 1708 to the power of Chhatrasal power. Maharaj Chhatrasal revolted against the Mughal Empire, in 1732 his kingdom was divided.

Out of which one-third of the state was given to the ally Maratha ruler Bajirao I. The kingdom of Panna was given to the eldest son of Chhatrasal. Whose name was Hridayshah who was also known as Hardev Shah or Hirdeshah? Panna district was the first king of the princely state of Madhya Pradesh who ruled from 1731 to 1739. In the 19th century, the princely state of Panna became a princely state of the British rulers. In ancient times, Panna used to be on the other side of the Kilkila river, where the kingdom was ruled by the Gaur and Kol people.

The Purana Mahal of King Chhatrasal is present at a distance of 2 miles from Panna. The palace still exists in the form of ruins. Panna district had a name of Panna during the 18th and 19th centuries, which is still mentioned in the then state papers. In 1901, the area of ​​Panna district was 6724 km square and there were 1008 villages under it.

Ancient History of Panna:- Siddhanath temple was built in the 6th century in the Panna district which is situated near Patna Tamoli village. The craftsmanship here and there used to be a 108 Kundiya grand temple in this temple. It is said that the Siddhanath temple is where Agastamuni did penance. And Bodhigai mountain is also situated in the south, on that too Agastamuni did penance. It is said that when Lord Rama went on exile for 14 years, he went to this divine place Siddhanath temple, and met Agastmuni. Which is also mentioned in Ramayana.

Agastmuni's ashram Saleha village where even today the Siddhanath temple exists. Lord Rama met Agastamuni and then later left for Chitrakoot. On the way from Panna to Pawai Tehsil, the holy place Brihaspati Kund near Brijpur, the ashram of Rishi Sutikshan near Sarangpur, the ashram of Rishi Agni Singh near Badgaon. It is said that the Viratnagar of Mahabharata period, whose identity is still recognized by the people of this place.

It is said that Pandavas stayed at this place for most of their time. Pandavas had made their abode at the time of anonymity in Pandava Falls and Pandava Caves. The birthplace of Guru Chanakya, the ruler of the Maurya dynasty, Chandragupta Maurya, is said to be around Chaumukhnath temple, 4 km from Saleha village in Panna district.

पन्ना जिला मध्य प्रदेश एक जिला है | जो की सागर मंडल के अन्तर्गत आता है | इसका मुख्यालय पन्ना जिले में स्थित है | पन्ना जिला को डायमंड सिटी ऑफ़ इंडिया के नाम से जाना जाता है| भारत में सबसे ज्यादा हीरा पन्ना में ही मिलता है| इसलिए इसे हीरा नगरी के नाम सभी जाना जाता है , हीरा नगरी के नाम से प्रसिद्ध पन्ना जिला मध्य प्रदेश राज्य का एक जिला है जो उत्तर पूरब से विंध्याचल की पर्वत श्रृंखला के मध्य में स्थित है | पन्ना जिले को महाराजा के नगर के नाम से भी जाना जाता है |

पन्ना जिला हीरे की खान और प्राचीन सुन्दर मंदिरो की नगरी के लिए प्रसिद्ध है इसलिए इसे मंदिरो की नगरी के नाम से भी जाना जाता है | पन्ना जिले में कुल ९ तहसील है और पन्ना में कुल ५ ब्लॉक है | पन्ना जिला का सबसे बड़ा पवई गाँव है | पन्ना विधान सभा (२३० विधान सभा )का एक निर्वाचन क्षेत्र में आता है | पन्ना जिले का क्षेत्रफल २७१३५ वर्ग किलोमीटर और पन्ना की जनसंख्या १०,१६०२८ सन २०११ की जनगणना के अनुसार है |

पन्ना की स्थापना :-सन १९२१ में पन्ना में नगर पालिका का गठन हुआ था | फिर १ अप्रैल १९४९ के पहले पन्ना जिला विंध्य प्रदेश का हिस्सा हुआ करता था | जिसे १ नवंबर १९५६ को मध्य प्रदेश में मिलाया गया | पन्ना जिले को २० अक्टूबर १९७२ में सागर संभाग की स्थापना हुई इसके पहले पन्ना रीवा संभाग में आता था |
पन्ना की स्थिति :- उत्तर में बाँदा जिला व पूरब में सतना जिला और दक्षिण में कटनी और दमोह जिला तथा पश्चिम में छतरपुर जिला स्थित है|
पन्ना की भगौलिक स्थिति :- पन्ना जिला भारत देश के मध्य में स्थित मध्य प्रदेश राज्य में है| पन्ना जिला अपनी अदभूत भौगोलिक स्थति २४°४३' उत्तर तथा ८०°१२' पूर्व के बीच स्थित है | पन्ना की समुद्र ताल से ऊंचाई १३३२ फ़ीट (४१६ मीटर ) की ऊंचाई पर स्थित है |

पन्ना जिला की धरती अपने गोद में पर्वत ,झरना ,और घने जंगलो से घिरा हुआ प्राकृतिक सुंदरता से परिपूर्ण है | पन्ना से गुजरती सुन्दर केन नदी ,पन्ना नेशनल पार्क ,पन्ना टाइगर रिजर्व ,यहाँ की सुंदरता को दोगुना बढ़ा देते है | पन्ना जिला में खास प्रकार के चौसिंगा हिरण पाए जाते है | पन्ना जिला को जल सुरंगो की नगरी भी कहते है |पन्ना जिला में रियासतकालीन पानी का प्रबंध बहुत ही बेहतर था | बारिश के पानी को संचय करने की व्यवस्था यहाँ के राजाओ ने ढाई सौ वर्ष पूर्व ही की गई थी | पन्ना जिला में दर्जनों से तालाब है |

तालाब से साथ साथ धर्मसागर,और अनेको कुआँ भी पन्ना का ताज है | यहाँ के तालाब लोगो की जान है | माना जाता है की एक समय में यहाँ पानी का भीषण संकट हुआ था | उस समय पन्ना शहर के निकट प्रभावित किलकिला नदी का पानी पीने लायक नहीं था | तब यहाँ पन्ना के राजाओ ने जगह जगह जल कुंड ,कुआँ , बावड़ियों व तालाबों को तत्काल निर्माण कराया था क्योकि यहाँ गर्मी में यहाँ जलस्रोत सुख जाता था | क्योकि पन्ना में चारो तरफ से पहाड़ और जमीन के काफी नीचे से चट्टानें मौजूद है | इसलिए पानी निकलना बहुत मुश्किल था |

यहाँ पानी के अकाल के समय महाराज सभासिंह ने अपनी रियासत को राहत के लिए ,पन्ना के निकट मदार टुंडा पहाड़ी की तलहटी में बहुत बड़ा धर्मसागर तालाब का निर्माण कराया था | धर्मसागर तालाब सन १७४५ से १७५२ के बीच में इसका निर्माण कराया था | पन्ना में मौजूद कलदा पठार जो रहस्य और रोमांच से भरा हुआ है | यह पठार पन्ना जिला मुख्यालय से लगभग ६० किलोमीटर दूर है | इस पर्वत पर प्रायः जनजातीय का निवास स्थान है | इन जनजातीय में कुछ ऐसे भी लोग मिल जाते है जो कभी पहाड़ से नीचे नहीं उतरे होंगे

इस विशाल पहाड़ पर लगभग ६० से ७० गाँव बसे हुए है | पन्ना जिले में ट्री हाउस भी देखने को मिलता है | पन्ना जिले में सर्वाधिक आंवला का उत्पादन होता है, इसी कारण इसे आंवला जिला घोषित किया गया है |
पन्ना का प्राचीन नाम :- पुराणों में पन्ना का प्राचीन नाम पद्मावती पूरीके नाम से जाना जाता है | वाल्मीकि रामायण के ४१ वे सर्ग में सुग्रीव ने इसका नाम किलकिला खंड (उत्तपत्ति स्थल वाकटाश ) के रूप में दर्शाया गया है

माना जाता है कि यह क्षेत्र राजा दधीचि की राजधानी और सतयुग में राजा पद्मावती की राजधानी के नाम से भी जाना जाता है | पन्ना जिला एक ऐतिहासिक नगर है और इसका उल्लेख विष्णुपुराण व पदमपुराण में किया गया है | पन्ना जिला को प्राचीन काल में किलकिला प्रदेश के नाम भी जाना जाता था | नागवंश के कुल देवी पद्मावती जिनका मंदिर आज भी किलकिला नदी के तट पर मौजूद है | देवी पद्मावती के कारण ही इस स्थान का नाम पन्ना पड़ा था | सबसे पहले इसको पद्मा फिर परना झरना अंत में इसका नाम परिवर्तित करके पन्ना कर दिया गया था

उधोग:-पन्ना जिले में हीरे के साथ साथ कृषि उत्पाद , इमारती लकड़ियाँ व वस्त्र व्यापार का बड़ा केंद्र है। हथकरघा व बुनाई यहाँ का मुख्य उधोग है। चावल ,गेहू ,ज्वार, और तिलहन फसलों की पैदावार ज्यादा होती है। पन्ना जिले में कई जगहों पर मत्स्य पालन केंद्र भी मौजूद है। पन्ना जिले में भारत का सबसे बड़ी हीरे की खदान मौजूद है जो की पन्ना के मझगांव इलाके में मौजूद है।

पर्यटन :-पन्ना जिला मंदिरो की नगरी के नाम से प्रसिद्ध है यहाँ पर जुगलकिशोर जी मंदिर ,प्राणनाथ मंदिर , जगन्नाथ मंदिर ,राम मंदिर , गोविन्द देव मंदिर ,बलदेव मंदिर ,पद्मावती देवी मंदिर ,ऐसे बहुत सारे प्रसिद्ध मंदिर यहाँ मौजूद है। पन्ना जिले में पन्ना राष्ट्रीय उधान है, जिसे १९८१ में भारत सरकार द्वारा स्थापित किया गया है। पन्ना राष्ट्रीय उधान में १९९४ में भारत सरकार द्वारा भारत का २२वा बाघ अभ्यारण बनाया गया, जिसे पन्ना टाइगर रिज़र्व के नाम से जाना जाता है। पन्ना जिला मुख्यालय से ३२ किलोमीटर दुरी पर अजयगढ़ का प्राचीन शहर जो महाराज अजयपाल का प्राचीन किला मौजूद है। पन्ना में कई पहाड़, झरना और भी बहुत कुछ घूमने के लिए मौजूद है।

पन्ना का इतिहास :- पन्ना जिला मूल रूप से १३वी से १७वी शताब्दी तक गौड़ क्षेत्र था। १६७५ में बुंदेलखंड में राजा छत्रसाल का शासन चलता था। उनका शासन पुरे बुंदेलखंड में था। महाराजा छत्रसाल के आध्यत्मिक गुरु स्वामी प्राणनाथ जी के आदेशानुसार महाराज छत्रसाल ने पन्ना को अपनी राजधानी बनाया था तब से पन्ना जिला का महत्व कई गुना बढ़ गया,तब से पन्ना जिला को महाराज छत्रसाल के नगर के रूप में जाने जाना लगा कहा जाता है, १७वी शताब्दी में चन्देलों ने जब गौड़ को हराया था फिर इस पूरे क्षेत्र पर अपना अधिकार कर लिए था।

उसी समय यहाँ पर पद्मावती धाम मंदिर की स्थापना कराया गया था। प्रथम स्वत्रंता संग्राम सन १८५६ में राजा निरपालसिंह जिन्होंने अंग्रेजो का साथ दिया था। जिससे अंग्रेजो ने खुश होकर उन्हें महाराजा के उपाधि से सम्मानित किया था। पन्ना जिला को बुंदेला नरेश छत्रसाल के सन १७०७ में औरंगजेब की मृत्यु के बाद इसे अपनी राजधानी बनाया था। मुग़ल सम्राट बहादुरशाह ने सन १७०८ में छत्रसाल की सत्ता की ताकत को समाज गया था।महाराज छत्रसाल ने मुग़ल साम्राज्य के खिलाफ विद्रोह किया ,१७३२ में उनकी राज्य का बटवारा हुआ।

जिसमे से राज्य का एक तिहाई हिस्सा सहयोगी मराठा शासक बाजीराव प्रथम को दे दिया गया था। पन्ना राज्य छत्रसाल के जेष्ठ पुत्र को मिला। जिनका नाम हृदयशाह था जिन्हे हरदेव शाह या हिरदेशाह के नाम से भी जाना गया। मध्य प्रदेश राज्य पन्ना जिला रियासत के प्रथम राजा थे जिन्होंने १७३१ से १७३९ तक अपना शासन किया था। १९वी सदी में पन्ना रियासत ब्रिटिश शासको की रियासत बन गई थी। प्राचीन काल में पन्ना किलकिला नदी के उस पार हुआ करती थी ,जहा राज्य गौड़ और कोल लोगो का राज्य था।

पन्ना से २ मिल की दुरी पर राजा छत्रसाल का पुराण महल मौजूद है। जो आज भी खंडहर के रूप में महल मौजूद है। पन्ना जिला को १८वी और १९वी सदी के समय इसका एक नाम पर्णा भी था जिसका उल्लेख अभी भी तत्कालीन राज्यपत्रो में भी देखने को मिलता है। सन १९०१ में पन्ना जिले का क्षेत्रफल ६७२४ किलोमीटर वर्ग था और इसके अंतर्गत १००८ गांव आते थे।

पन्ना का प्राचीन इतिहास :- पन्ना जिला में ६वी शताब्दी में बना सिद्धनाथ मंदिर जो पटना तमोली गांव के पास स्थित है। यहाँ की शिल्प कला तथा इस मंदिर में कभी १०८ कुंडीय भव्य मंदिर भी हुआ करता था। कहा जाता है, की सिद्धनाथ मंदिर जहां पर अगस्तमुनि ने तपस्या किया था। और बोधिगयी पहाड़ भी दक्षिण ने स्थित है, वह पर भी अगस्तमुनि ने तपस्या किया था। कहते है की जब भगवन राम १४ वर्ष के वनवास पर गए थे तो उन्होंने इस दिव्य स्थान सिद्धनाथ मंदिर में जाकर अगस्तमुनि से मुलाकात किया था। जिसका जिक्र रामायण में भी है।

अगस्तमुनि का आश्रम सलेहा गांव जहाँ आज भी सिद्धनाथ मंदिर आज भी मौजूद है। भगवन राम अगस्तमुनि से भेट की फिर बाद में चित्रकूट के लिए रवाना हो गए थे। रास्तें में भगवान रामचंद्र ने पन्ना से पावै तहसील के पास पवित्र स्थल बृजपुर के निकट बृहस्पति कुंड ,सारंगपुर के निकट सुतिक्षण ऋषि का आश्रम ,बड़गाव के पास ऋषि अग्नि सिंह का आश्रम है। कहा जाता है की महाभारत काल के विराटनगर जिसके पहचान आज भी यहाँ के लोग बरहटा से ही करते है।

कहा जाता है की पांडवो ने अपना अधिकतर समय इसी स्थान पर रुके थे। पांडव फॉल व पांडव गुफा में पांडवो ने अपना अज्ञातवाश के समय निवास स्थान बनाया था। मौर्या वंश के शासक चन्द्रगुप्त मौर्या के गुरु चाणक्य की जन्म स्थली पन्ना जिला के सलेहा गांव से ४ किलोमीटर दूर चौमुखनाथ मंदिर के आसपास बताया जाता है।
